Rudy Membiela has been playing bass & percussion for over 25 years. He is adept at playing 4 and 5 string fretted and fretless electric bass and acoustic double (upright) bass. He is of a third generation of musicians in his family and is also related to the late international Cuban singing star of the late 1940's Nico Membiela.
A veteran of the Chicago music scene, Rudy has played in many different musical situations and is available for your live or studio project and/or tour. Many dates are still available.
Currently Rudy leads his own Latin Jazz ensemble PICANTE where he divides his bass playing & vocal duties while implementing all sorts of assorted percussion both of the hand type as well as larger percussion such as timbales, congas, djembe, & drum set.
Rudy also writes original jazz, latin, latin-jazz, blues, rock, pop, & adult contmporary music. Rudy was also formerly the musical director, arranger, and a background vocalist with one of Chicago's oldest Mambo ensembles.
